Apple introduces 5G handsets via new iPhone 12 series

Apple has officially launched a set of four new iPhones- iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max  

The new series of iPhone 12 comes with an updated design, OLED screens, and 5G support – which is a first for any iPhone

That’s all in addition to the brand-new hardware and of course better cameras. 

The iPhone 12 Mini is the world’s first smallest and lightest 5G phone while iPhone 12 Pro Max is Apple’s first biggest iPhone to date.

Price:

iPhone 12 Mini will be priced at Rs 69,900 and comes as an entry-level device in the iPhone 12 line-up. 

The next in line is the iPhone 12 that is priced at Rs 79,900.

Both devices will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants and the following color options as blue, green, black, white, and red.

The premium variants viz. the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be priced at Rs 1,19,900 and Rs 1,29,900 respectively. 

Both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage variants and the following colors as graphite, silver, gold, and pacific blue.

  • iPhone 12 Pro Max: November 13 (in the US)
  • iPhone 12 Pro: October 30
  • iPhone 12: October 30
  • iPhone 12 Mini: November 13 (in the US)

Design:

All the new iPhones have an updated design with squared-off edges, a recalling of the iPhone 4. 

The front and back remain the same but, using new materials. 

The iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 are made of aluminum, while the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max retain stainless steel case. 

Screen:

The screen has something new to offer with new iPhones, they are protected by what Apple is calling a “ceramic shield” that is in partnership with Corning.

Speaking of display size, the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 have 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch screens, and the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max come with larger 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. 

All the new iPhones use Apple’s Super Retina XDR OLED display with Dolby Vision and HDR 10 support. But they won’t support the refresh rate of 120 Hz. Which is mostly available in flagship Android devices.

Processor: 

All the new iPhones pack Apple’s latest and greatest 5nm A14 Bionic chip.

As per Apple claims the CPU and GPU are faster by up to 50 percent compared to the fastest competing smartphone chips. 

Cameras:

Apple now uses a new-dual camera system, iPhone 12 featuring the Ultra-Wide camera and a new Wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture. Claiming to be the fastest yet on iPhone

The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max come with a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto, and an iPad Pro-like LiDAR sensor. 

Apple is using a faster f/1.6 aperture lens with the main sensor alongside an improved OIS. Also, Night mode and Deep Fusion, are available on Wide and Ultra-wide cameras. 

The Apple iPhone 12 is the first and only device in the world to enable an end-to-end Dolby Vision experience, allowing to capture, edit, and share cinema-grade videos natively on iPhone. featuring the first camera to shoot HDR video with Dolby Vision.
